This summer, NAWG staff participated in wheat harvest in Washington’s Palouse region and toured the Western Wheat Quality Laboratory, where lab staff showcased the importance of testing wheat quality. Thank you to WA Wheat Growers and the WA Grain Commission for this opportunity.

This week our VP Pat Clements showed Congressman James Comer’s staff around his farm. Staff got an in-depth education on his wheat seed cleaning operation and saw how drought impacts the corn in his area.

WAWG leaders, Anthony Smith, Andy Juris, and Nicole Berg, are in D.C. this week as part of a NAWG farm bill fly-in. Many other commodities are taking part, including cotton, corn, soybeans, Farm Credit. Growers are urging Congress to pass a farm bill as soon as possible.

Kicked off our fly-in with a meeting with Secretary Vilsack. Our growers shared their personal farm stories and discussed the environmental benefits of wheat in cropping systems.

Last week, NAWG CEO and Treasurer attended NAMA' annual meeting to give an update on issues impacting the wheat industry. They caught up with our IPP member Ardent Mills' CEO, Sheryl Wallace, and General Mills' Sr. Director of Global Grain & Merchandising, Brent Bash.

The Friends of the National Arboretum’s annual Dinner Under the Stars is one of the highlights of our year. We heard from Sen. Debbie Stabenow, Glenn "GT" Thompson, and Secretary Tom Vilsack on the importance of caring for our nation’s outdoors and investing in agriculture research.

I met with the Oregon Wheat Growers League to discuss the vital role that #OR06 wheat growers play in our country's economy. I'm committed to ensuring farmers & producers have the resources to thrive, & I'll keep fighting to pass a Farm Bill that will help us make this a reality.

Had a great time teaming up with Congresswoman Andrea Salinas at Anheuser-Busch’s #BrewAcrossAmerica. Our beer, Yak Attack, was named after the Yakima Valley and used local ingredients crafted to support National Wheat Foundation. I was honored to be part of this event showcasing American agriculture!
