This beautiful hydrangea is in full bloom in the secret garden behind the museum. Its offspring, cuttings home-grown from this plant, can be bought on the plant stall at the door but don’t delay because we didn’t grow many…

The weather’s looking wonderful for Sunday’s Vintage Tea Party in the Priest House garden and you’re invited to join us from 2.30pm. Tea, cakes and museum entry all included and the garden is in full summer abundance. See you there! #westhoathly #eastgrinstead #sussex

What a great day we had for this year’s Vintage Tea Party! So busy with so many guests and it was great to welcome an elegant group of Victorian Strollers. And the weather was perfect too. Here’s to 2025!

Annual reminder from someone who didn't get their predicted grades that it can all work out. Talk to departments, explore clearing & know, in the great scheme of things, a year out won't mean anything. This is the moment you step off the treadmill and your path becomes your own.

We’re taking an August break from our Coffee Stop Curator talks but the museum’s open. Do pop in & check out this year’s exhibition on cricket commemorating the 400th anniversary of Jasper Vinall, an unfortunate fellow the first man to be killed in a #cricket match. #sussex

“So, what’s the oldest thing you’ve got in this #museum?” Well, this is old but not oldest. Part of the vertebral column & ribs of Pachythrissops vectensis, Smith Woodward, a metre-long fish from c110 million yrs ago. John Comber found this rare specimen in Hook Quarry in 1964.

What a beautiful sight! This year’s apple harvest is well underway with this lovely crate of fruit waiting to be pressed. Batch one of this year’s juice has Codlings, James Greave, Grenadier, Bramleys and Cox in the blend as well as some unidentified eaters. #Sussex #harvest
