🧬 PCR WORKSHOPS | We recently hosted nearly 400 Higher and AH pupils from 10 schools in the Glasgow City Council area & beyond. The pupils leaned about #virology, genetic #sequencing the applications of DNA technology. They even performed their own #PCR! Well done to everyone involved!
🏆 #CVRStokerAward ANNOUNCEMENT | Professor Wendy Barclay is our 11th Sir Michael Stoker Award Winner! wendybarclay is an eminent figure in the field of respiratory viruses with a keen focus on #influenza. We will welcome Wendy to the CVR at the end of January 2024.
Great discussions at the Rosalind Franklin Institute symposium. A pleasure to speak about our work and our collaboration with Franklin Mechanistic Proteomics
📢 Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a PhD student at the CVR? Meet Namah Raut! Namah works in the Castello Lab & talks about her experiences studying at the CVR. Apply NOW to start your PhD in October 2024. 📆 Deadline: 7 Jan Find out more: cvr.ac.uk/trainingdevelo…
Using biophysics and molecular virology we show that the RNA binding activity of TRIM25 is as important as its E3 ubiquitin ligase for its antiviral function. We started untangling TRIM25's mechanism to recognise target RNAs! Awesome collaboration between the MRC-Uni of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research and EMBL
Congratulations Alexandra Wilson !!! 🥳🥳🥳 We wish you all the best in your next stage in Brno. We are sure you will shine 🥹
📢 DEADLINE EXTENSION #GlasgowVirologyWorksop Deadline for abstract submission and registration are now next week! 📆 Wednesday 1st May 2024 🔗gla.ac.uk/research/az/cv… Send a PDF with your name, email, affiliation and a 200-word abstract to [email protected].
So proud of Louie Iselin, who defended her thesis successfully. She joined the Castello Lab before the pandemic and went through the troubles steadily and relentlessly generating an amazing work on the effects of #interferon in the regulation of #RBPs. Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉🍾🥂
Excited to share our latest bioRxiv paper, in collaboration with Franklin Mechanistic Proteomics (Rosalind Franklin Institute ), which explores virus permissive, intermediate, and hostile intracellular environments using multiple Omic platforms. Grateful for the amazing teamwork! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
