Using donated pluripotent stem cells from adults, Aitor Aguirre, Aleksandra Kostina, Yonatan R. Lewis-Israeli, & their IQ team developed these highly accurate, mini human heart organoids to study human heart development and congenital heart disease. #HeartMonth

A human heart organoid system developed at @MichiganStateU can simulate embryonic heart development under pregestational diabetes-like conditions, offering a new way for researchers to study congenital heart defects without the need for animal models. bit.ly/3OHL09o #NIH

New research describes how heart organoids can be used for disease modeling of congenital heart defects. The technique mimics aspects of gestation by adding specific metabolic and hormonal factors to make a more physiological relevant mini heart in a dish bit.ly/46QYCVS

Today, we have good news! Our lab was awarded an NSF grant to explore applications of AI to iPSC-derived cardiomyocyte maturation and organoids in collaboration with Dr. John Zhang at Dartmouth College. Looking forward to exploring this rapidly evolving space!

Today, we also have good news. The Alternatives Research and Development Foundation (ARDF) has funded our project to develop heart organoid-based models for studying human atrial fibrillation. Many thanks to ARDF for their support!
