There has been a major chemical spill in a canal in Walsall. Please follow the advice carefully regarding visiting the canals and also what to do if you may have come into contact with canal water in the affected area.

My son had whooping cough as a baby, it was dreadful and meant he didn't sleep soundly for years from coughing. The jab (which didn't exist) when I was pregnant would have been heaven sent.

This dangerous chemical spill is very concerning. There needs to be a full investigation into how this happened. In the meantime please follow and share the advice and avoid the affected area of canals. See the map in the thread below to find out where to avoid 👇

I received a briefing from the Environment Agency on the situation yesterday, and glad to see large parts of the canals reopened for local people to enjoy. Please continue to avoid the closed section.
