This is really interesting. Farage said the riots represent the fears of “tens of millions” of ordinary members of the public. It turns out even reform votes don’t think so. His back peddling in recent days could have won gold in Paris.

Now that anti-far right protests vastly outnumber the thugs we'll presumably see loads of pieces about how this proves the British people support immigration. Or maybe now they'll be a sudden realisation that protests/riots don't prove anything about majority opinion...

It’s time to think about how we rebuild community cohesion and restore our reputation for tolerance. As part of that Government must act to end the Wild West of social media. We’ll look back on this period of online lawlessness with horror. thesun.co.uk/news/29750388/…

Changing perceptions of well known people is hard to do. These figures show how badly Farage judged the public mood. He’s even disapproved of by most leave voters and has tanked among conservatives. The British public have no time for violence or indulging extremists.

After the concerning events of the past week, we must remember that we have a lot more in common, than that which divides us. Earlier today on BBC Breakfast, Together Coalition members Iman Qari Asim and Julie Siddiqi MBE, spoke of how we can move forward, together.

Musk is deliberately amplifying one of the main instigators of racist violence in the UK, a man who was previously banned from Twitter & has a series of criminal convictions. X is no longer a neutral platform, it’s a delivery system injecting hate into our society.

Nigel Farage’s comments against a backdrop of the worst public order offences the UK has witnessed for many years will inevitably have been seen as hugely unhelpful by right thinking people in what is a volatile situation. Those comments have simply fuelled conspiracy theories.

Extreme misogyny is a threat in itself (incels, hate crime etc) but also co-present with other forms of extremism - far right/ Islamist etc. This needs to happen as part of a wider review of counter extremism. The last government dropped the ball. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

"There is a strong case that Musk has been the most important amplifier of racial hatred in our country over the past 12 months... [Recent] violence would have been unlikely to have had such speed, scale or reach without his decisions." Sunder Katwala easterneye.biz/elon-musk-tole…

Zuckerberg, Nick Clegg & Meta took $1.2 million to run this deliberately incendiary stuff across the UK & France as paid advertising on this platform & they can't say who funded it

I’ve just had the chance to see this. Thank you Julia. Jo was proud of her marathon run - though perhaps not her time! Lovely of you to honour her in your maiden speech. She would be delighted for you.
