Very happy we got this approved at Ghent University. Each professor will annually receive an amount of about €30,000 for research. No grant writing necessary, no internal competition, but focus on collaboration: 2 professors will get enough for 1 PhD student.

Very nice meeting with a vice-rector and dean of the Mountains of the Moon University in Uganda. We have had a long-standing collaboration and intend to continue and if possible expand it.

Yesterday I was flanked by two ambassadors: the Belgian one in Malaysia and the new Malaysian one in Belgium who had only arrived in Belgium two days prior to our meeting. It was very nice to get to know them.
