Important study by IR resident Maryam Boumezrag, MD about simultaneous vs staged biopsy/cryoablation of renal masses More patients underwent ablation of benign lesions in simultaneous group. Need to counsel patients about biopsy first to avoid unnecessary ablation!

Excellent presentation by chief IR fellow Ivy Chowdhury on the techniques for treating sacroiliac joint pain and the best targets for nerve ablation! Prone position with steep caudal angle is key to visualize S1 superior enplate. Best to target L5-S3 for maximal relief

Exciting work from IR fellow Steve Kim on the use of basivertebral nerve ablation for vertebrogenic back pain w/ or w/o adjunctive medial branch nerve block and/or SI joint ablation! Sig. improvement in VAS scores for both with no diff. btw groups at 3mo. 6 mo data coming soon!

Embolized and active bleed from retroperitoneal with 5:1 n-BCA. It did a great job going down all the tiny supplying vessels and, as a bonus, almost got myself a left lower extremity thrombectomy....

Key findings from an RCT comparing thermal ablation to surgery for CRC liver mets. This will further solidify the role of IR in the management of CRC mets Society of Interventional Radiology. Looking forward to reading the full manuscript.

Hot off the press! 🗞️ 🔥 Large-bore access may reduce the # of cholangioscopy procedures required to removal all gallstones. No recurrent stones observed 3 months after tube removal. Congrats to John Smirniotopoulos & Neil K Jain Weill Cornell Medicine Interventional Radiology Daniel Marchalik! jvir.org/article/S1051-…
