We need a laser focus on net zero if we are to achieve a green economic transformation. I spoke to @daily_express about the need to ensure that all economic policies take account of climate change. express.co.uk/comment/expres…

5 peaceful climate protesters are facing an excessive sentence under the undemocratic Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022. I’m calling on Labour to repeal the Conservatives’ repressive anti-protest laws which undermine our obligations under international law.

Yet another data point in the overwhelming evidence of global heating. Yet we seem to be like the proverbial frogs in the pot. It's time for govts to recognise the danger and act accordingly. #ClimateActionNow bbc.co.uk/weather/articl…

Repairing bus services is vital to keeping people and communities connected in rural areas like North Herefordshire. New powers for councils to franchise bus services are a welcome start. Now we need to see guarantees of regular services and proper investment to go with it.

Big thank you to Daisy and Haydn - two brilliant Herefordshire Green Party volunteers - for running a stand at Hereford Sixth Form College freshers' fair today. I hear it went really well!

It is crucial that we don't embed longstanding inequality by underfunding vocational post-16 education. I asked the government to ensure that teachers in FE colleges get the same pay rise as those in schools.

Happy #EmergencyServicesDay to all our dedicated public sector workers, both on the front line and behind the scenes, who demonstrate every day how important funding vital services is to our communities. We need to invest in our public sector if we want a strong & safe society✊

I’m in the Chamber for today’s important debate on #WinterFuelPayment & will vote to oppose the govt’s inhumane & shortsighted policy. But honestly the brass neck of Conservatives wringing hands about poverty when they spent 14 years running public services into the ground…

Lip service from Liz Kendall in the #WinterFuelPayment debate re the need to insulate homes - but 2 months into new government there has been no detail on this at all! Warm words don’t heat homes. Without real action it’s just so much hot air.

We need an electoral system that fairly and accurately represents the voters of Britain in Parliament, and this is one of the key goals of this group and I will continue to campaign on this in Parliament. It has been a busy but very productive day at parliament today.

It’s simply wrong that urban areas get much higher levels of bus subsidy than rural areas. Today in Parliament, I challenged the minister to reverse this inequality and fund rural bus services fairly.

Living on an organic farm, I am proud to #BackBritishFarming & have seen how important financial support is in the transition to nature-friendly farming. Our food system shouldn't drive nature loss nor pollute rivers. More emphasis on support for growers would help combat that.

DEFRA is such an important department, dealing with river pollution, farming support, the biodiversity crisis and more. Why aren't we giving it the time it deserves?

This ruling confirms what we already know: that the Whitehaven mine would have resulted in harmful emissions. We must draw a line under coal mining - under all planned new fossil fuel extraction in this country, especially the climate wrecking Rosebank. theguardian.com/environment/20…

Government policy on #winterfuelpayment is socially regressive, economically innumerate and politically inept. It’s the wrong approach, and unjustifiable. I voted and spoke against it.

Last week I led a debate on the environmental standard for new housing, calling for: maximum energy efficiency, solar panels on roofs as standard, swift bricks and bat boxes, flood resilience, and tackling embodied carbon. Vital to ensure new homes are warm homes!
