Ever since the King’s Speech debate in July I’ve repeatedly warned that without Labour urgently detailing a clear, funded pathway to 2.5% - as we set out in April - deferments or cuts to major defence programmes would be inevitable. thetimes.com/article/7eaed9…

Now Rachel Reeves is saying she didn’t want to cut the Winter Fuel Payment and it was only after coming into office that she realised she had to… But if true, why leave it out of the manifesto? For the *first* time in 14 years? Keir & Morgan must have known. Did Rachel?

Ed Miliband’s plans for energy are based on ideology not fact. By insisting on a 2030 target, he’ll miss out the benefits of growing the British supply chain. Bad for British jobs and increasing our reliance on China for batteries, cables, & minerals. telegraph.co.uk/business/2024/…

We are catapulted back to 2009. All of the great reforms to education made under the Conservatives since 2010 are coming under attack now that Labour are in power. Let’s see if this Labour Party has the moral decency to stand up to pressure.

Announcing an arms embargo on the day when Israel is burying its murdered hostages, and within weeks of British military personnel and arms defending Israel from Iranian attack, is not easy to swallow. Having now looked at Labour’s memorandum, it has all the appearance of

Badenoch: "Most importantly, I believe in truth. Truth is not relative." 👍 Truth needs free speech. Sadly, some academics aim to replace objective truth. The HEFOSA (whose passage Coutinho played a key part in) is vital for seeking and speaking truth and mustn't be scrapped.

Great question from Gareth Davies MP. Many Labour MPs promised their constituents £300 energy bill savings in the election. Now Labour ministers are refusing to repeat that pledge. If they’ve ditched it, they should come clean.

No mention of costs? Although the ESO are being put in a very bad position here, being asked to pursue something they previously disagreed with. What they should be being asked is: how much will this cost, what does this mean for energy security - is it right for the country?

Labour went into an election promising to save people £300. But one of their first acts has been to take away up to £300 this winter from many pensioners in poverty. Complete betrayal.
